FinXJournal (“we”, “us”) publishes fintech news and operates the Solutions Directory and events Datebook. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and the rights you have over it under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (“DPDP Act”). Under the Act, we act as the Data Fiduciary and you are the Data Principal.
What We Collect, and Why
We collect personal data only where a specific feature needs it, and never more than that feature requires:
- Newsletter (Insider Briefing) — your name and email address, collected only after you tick a clearly worded, unticked-by-default consent checkbox, used solely to send you the newsletter.
- Directory listing submissions & the Contact form — the name, email and company details you choose to submit, used only to process the submission or respond to your message.
- Advertising analytics — when an ad is shown or clicked, we log non-identifying technical data (device type, browser, operating system, country, and which page it appeared on) to measure ad performance. This is not linked to your name or email.
We do not use tracking or advertising cookies. A session cookie is set only when a staff member logs in to publish content; visitors reading the site are not tracked by cookie.
Legal Basis
Where we ask for consent — such as the newsletter sign-up — we rely on that consent alone, and nothing is collected until you affirmatively give it. You may withdraw consent at any time, as easily as you gave it; withdrawing does not affect the lawfulness of anything done before the withdrawal.
Retention
Newsletter subscriber records are kept for as long as you remain subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we retain a minimal record (email and unsubscribe date) for a limited period to honour your opt-out and meet audit requirements, after which it is deleted. You may request earlier deletion at any time — see “Your Rights” below.
Your Rights as a Data Principal
Under the DPDP Act, you have the right to:
- Access a summary of the personal data we hold about you;
- Correct or update inaccurate or incomplete data;
- Erase data that is no longer needed for the purpose it was collected;
- Withdraw consent at any time, including unsubscribing from the newsletter instantly via the link in every email we send, with no login required;
- Nominate another individual to exercise these rights on your behalf in the event of death or incapacity; and
- Register a grievance if you’re unsatisfied with how we’ve handled a request.
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@finxjournal.com or use our Contact page. We will respond within a reasonable time and at no cost to you.
Grievance Officer
As required under the DPDP Act, FinXJournal has designated a Grievance Officer to handle data-related complaints, reachable at privacy@finxjournal.com.
Children’s Data
Our newsletter and other data-collecting features are not directed at, or knowingly used to collect data from, individuals under 18. If you believe a child’s data has been provided to us without appropriate consent, contact us and we will delete it.
Data Sharing
We do not sell personal data. We do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes. We send newsletter emails ourselves, without a third-party email service provider processing subscriber data on our behalf, and disclose data only where required by law.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes materially, we will update this page and note the revision date below.
